Papal Parousia V New Testament Parousia

From The  Pope's Way of the Cross, written by a woman:

The gentleness of God and those who are his own, those meek hearts that Jesus promised would one day inherit the earth. The primordial gentleness of creation, and of the man and woman made in the image of God. The gentleness of the end time, when every tear shall be wiped away and the wolf shall dwell with the lamb, for all flesh shall come to the knowledge of God (cf. Is 11:6.9).

Well, Jesus is our friend and He would never do anything that might disturb our human dignity or cause us to fear for Fear of the Lord is kaput in the New Church and we are all good people deserving of His Mercy because His Judgment is so Medieval.

However, the New Testament teaches us about The Parousia in less syrupy imagery. It teaches of of a Parousia that is not quite so pacific:

Matthew 24:21-22 “For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.”

Luke 21:11 “There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.”

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord shall come as a thief, in which the heavens shall pass away with great violence, and the elements shall be melted with heat, and the earth and the works which are in it, shall be burnt up.
