Pope Siricius and the Apostolic Origins of Priestly celibacy/continence - recently under sustained attack in modern Rome

VATICAN CITY — Cardinal Marc Ouellet announced Monday that the Vatican will host a theological symposium on the priesthood that will touch on questions raised in recent synods, including priestly celibacy, dwindling vocations, and the role of women in the Church.
One can be sure to hear about married priests in the Eastern Rite Catholic Church but you can bet your ass you will not be told it was the East that instituted this aberrant behavior in opposition to Tradition and Patristic Doctrine/Theology:

Say, Amateur Brain Surgeon, you seem to know pretty much everything, what say we Latins just accept that there has been a praxis of married and sexually active priests in the East since, like forever. and so we can be just like them?
That always the direction, isn't it pretend interlocutor? When do the modern Latins ever demand the East become like us?
The East has this issue mastered.
No. They. Haven't
The Latin Rite got it right; right from the get-go and all of the documentation and the reasons for Continence (See Pope St Siricius and "The Decretals" and "Cor Unum") in its Apostolic Origins of Priestly Celibacy.
In a nut shell the reason for continence/Celibacy it is this. In the OT, the Levitical Priests had to live away from home during the time they served in the Temple so they would not be having conjugal congress with their wives and so they could fully dedicate themselves to their service at the Altar.
New Testament Priests offer the Sacrifice daily, ergo, perpetual continence.
Of course many want all of this done away with; 'It is just a discipline':'Canon Law can be changed to reflect the reality:' We can just make a few changes and be just like the East...'
The blitheness with which 2000+ years of Orthopraxis is expected to be simply jettisoned is typical of what happens in a revolutionary age.
ABS thinks this think this whole thing is suffused with a sulphurous odor.
