Soul of Fellay

Is there anybody in Tradistan (tm Rad Trad) who cares for the soul of Fellay and his acolytes?  If there is, they'd better be praying The SSPX Schism accepts a reconciliation with the One True Holy Roman Catholic and Apostolic Church on the terms that Church sets, not its own willful demands.

Is is the Catholic Church that has Divinely-Constituted authority, not a schism.

What does Tradition teach about the state The SSPX finds itself in?

The most Holy Roman Church believes, professes, and teaches that none of those who are not within the Catholic Church,... and schismatics
can ever have a share in eternal life, but that they will go into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels unless before death they shall have entered into the Church; and that so important is the unity of this ecclesiastical body that only those abiding within this unity can profit from the Sacraments of the Church unto salvation, and that they alone can receive an eternal reward for their fasts, their almsgiving, their other works of Christian piety and duties of a Christian soldier. No one, let his almsgiving be as great as it may be, no one, even if he pour out his blood for the name of Christ, can be saved unless he abide within the bosom and unity of the Catholic Church. (Pope Eugene IV)

He who is separated from the body of the Catholic Church, however praiseworthy his conduct may otherwise seem, will not be saved. (Pope Gregory XVI)

Not one man of those outside the faith and obedience to the Pontiff of the Romans can finally be saved. (Pope Clement VI)

Whoever does not preserve this unity does not preserve the law of God, does not preserve the faith of the Father and Son, and does not have life and salvation. (Pope Pius XII)

We must believe that the Roman Catholic Church is the only true Church; hence, they who are out of our Church, or they who are separated from it, cannot be saved. (St. Alphonsus Maria Liguori)

Outside the fold of the Holy Roman Church there is no salvation. (Ven. Pope Pius IX)

This is the Holy Church, the One Church, the True Church, the Catholic Church, fighting against all heresies! He will not have God for his Father who refuses the Church for his Mother. No one can find salvation except in the Catholic Church. Outside the Church, you can find everything except salvation. You can have dignities, you can have Sacraments, you can sing "Alleluia," answer "Amen," have the Gospels, have faith and preach it, too. But never can you find salvation except in the Catholic Church (St. Augustine)

No one can be saved outside the bosom and unity of the Catholic Church. (Council of Florence)

Outside this communion, as outside the Ark of Noah, there is absolutely no salvation for mortals; for the rule of Cyprian and Augustine is certain: that man will not have God for his Father who would not have the Church for his Mother. (St. Peter Canisius)

I threw-in with The SSPX
Swallowed all their crazy dreck
Heard excommuncationnnnnnnnn, 'twas no blow

Left The Church; Left my Home
Split from Satan's Pope in Rome
Heard excommunicationnnnnnnnn, 'twas no blow

Just a schizzie way too smart
With no love in my heart
I'm a self-self-righteous trad don'cha'know

Lefebvre severed me from my brain
Locked me in a cult insane
Heard excommunicationnnnnnnnnnnn, 'twas no blow

I'm a captive of this Cult
Where all we do is bitch and sulk
And where my soul's O has turned blacker than coal
Don't ever obey them crummy Popes,
Lefebvre said, That's Deus Vult
Heard excommunicationnnnnn, 'twas no blow

  1. It's like in One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich: some men, like Solzhenitsyn were sturdy and could live on thin gruel, while others could not and perished. It's great if youre a hard-headed Irishman like E. Michael Jones or (I presume) ABS and can raise a family (if you have one) in the ether of a novus ordo parish that will countersignal every orthodox move you make (the thin gruel). But for most of us - the weak - there has to be a modicum of normalcy for us to even survive. Thus, the SSPX. 'Tis no sin, tis no schism. Because that's not the intent.

  2. Dear Brother. ABS knows well the struggle is indeed a struggle but me and thee are the heads of our domestic church and what sort of example are we setting if we refuse communion with our Bishop and Pope?

We would be acting like the schismatics who preceded Mons Lefebvre who also said the sspx were not schismatic, that they were obeying higher law etc etc.

Neither schism or excuses for it are new.

Mons Lefebvre well knew he was committing schism:

In 1974, he had told a confidante (now an ex-Lefebvrite priest) that he would never consecrate a bishop, "for this would mean I would do what Martin Luther did, and I would lose the Holy Ghost."
    ....
But by 1983 he was in the United States, sounding out his priests on the possibility of consecrating bishops. He asked each in turn for his view on the subject. Those Society superiors who had objected to what he and they knew would be a formally schismatic act, in a year's time were all removed from their positions. They were replaced by those priests who had gone along with the idea.

And he also knew he would be excommunicated and that, ultimately, did not stop him.

Jesus did not let the cup pass Him by in the garden of gethsemane and we must imitate Jesus and drink this wicked cup because we are serious sinners (especially ABS) and we deserve this chastisement.

Jesus established His Church. He has always been and will always be the Head of His Church.

When me and thee stand before His Judgment Seat, what will we say to Him?

Will we tell Him it was not our intent to succor a schism but the local priest was a jack wagon and so we split .

ABS has children and he has borne these trials reluctantly but he has borne them faithfully because it appears to be His will and it has never occurred to ABS that it is the will of Jesus to create another Church or to actualise Salvation and Sanctification in a schism.

The sine qua non of Catholicism is to always maintain the Bonds of Unity in Worship, Doctrine, and Authority.

As a last sad note, ABS has to give Satan his due for he has managed to peal away from the Body of Christ many good and orthodox men who love and treasure Tradition and the good, true, and beautiful Mass but the answer to tough times is never to flee.

What has the SSPX accomplished in nearly 30 years? Has its absence weakened or strengthened the Church?

What about the more than two generations of children who have been learnt that the Popes are heretics and that the Church teaches heresy? What will they do when they come of age and read that Jesus promised the gates of Hell would not triumph over His Church?

How can they not conclude He is a liar or a failure after their education which taught them objectively otherwise?

It's humanly possible for the pope to deny every Christian doctrine going. As long as it is humanly possible, you have a duty to be on guard for it. And not be blithely ignorant of it.

Knowing the cast of the last 50 years, it would take a miracle for the ranks not to produce a pope that denied Christian teaching in keeping with the last 50 years.

  4. Dear Trad Dad. All you write can be true but the question is - What does one do in response to such a situation?
