Ecumenism is the Universal Solvent of Tradition .

For those who succor the SSPX Schism (2)

Martin Luther, "These [church laws] hold good only so long as they are not injurious to Christianity and the laws of God. Therefore, if the Pope deserves punishment, these laws cease to bind us, since Christendom would suffer."

Marcel Lefebvre, "In the Church there is no law or jurisdiction which can impose on a Christian a diminution of his faith. All the faithful can and should resist whatever interferes with their faith.... If they are forced with an order putting their faith in danger of corruption, there is an overriding duty to disobey."

Martin Luther, "The Church of Rome, formerly the most holy of all churches, has become . . . the very kingdom of sin, death and hell; so that not even the Antichrist, if he were to come, could desire any addition to its wickedness."

Marcel Lefebvre, in his Aug. 29, 1987. letter to the four bishops-to-be, "The See of Peter and posts of authority in Rome being occupied by Antichrists, the destruction of the Kingdom of Our Lord is being rapidly carried out even within His Mystical Body here below."

ABS will end these few posts about the SSPX although he could go on for day after day posting the teachings of Tradition which ineluctably condemn what Mons. Lefebvre and The SSPX have done.

The few citations in this post will not pierce the impenetrable ideological walls of those who succor the SSPX because they have been formed to believe that the SSPX is the true church and it claims universal jurisdiction;

http://southernvermontcrank.blogspot.com/2014/01/mons-lefebvres-petit-ecclesia-exposed_24.html

The sad fact is the SSPX will never be able to come to any pacific accord with the Roman Hierarchy that would mean they would be accepted into Communion with this or any future Pope for collectively (although not individually) they are possessed of the satanic spirit of schism and it is Satan whom they serve.

Of course, such plain and simple speech is offensive to the putative pious ears of those who succor the schism and so just try to imagine those who succor the schism being willing to accept any agreement with Rome entered into by Bishop Fellay, or anyone else, for most of those who succor the schism will not even assist at the FSSP Mass because they are in communion with Rome.

Any attempt to restore communion with the Pope would be roundly rejected and the SSPX coffers would dry up.

Thanks to Mons. Lefebvre and Fellay, their devotees have been schooled to reflexively reject any agreement with Rome because those who succor the SSPX believe it to be the Church and that the Church has failed (which must mean that Jesus Christ is the greatest liar of all time given His promises about His Church),

In any event, these few citations no not represent even one tenth of what ABS has in his files - files that were developed while a Freeper (Free Republic member) who specialised in straight talk against the schism (under a different S/N).

S. Augustinus, Contra Epistolam Parmeniani, lib. ii., cap. ii., n. 25 There is nothing more grievous than the sacrilege of schism....there can be no just necessity for destroying the unity of the Church"

S. Augustinus, Sermo cclxvii., n. 4 As long as it was in the body, it lived; separated, it forfeits its life. So the Christian is a Catholic as long as he lives in the body: cut off from it he becomes a heretic-the life of the spirit follows not the amputated member”

S. Cyprianus, De Cath. Eccl. Unitate,Whosoever is separated from the Church is united to an adulteress. He has cut himself off from the promises of the Church, and he who leaves the Church of Christ cannot arrive at the rewards of Christ....He who observes not this unity observes not the law of God, holds not the faith of the Father and the Son, clings not to life and salvation"

Council of Trent ... 'No bishop is permitted under any pretext or privilege whatsoever to exercise episcopal functions in the diocese of another bishop, without the permission of the Ordinary of the place and with regard to persons subordinate to the same Ordinary. If any bishop does otherwise, he will be lawfully suspended from his episcopal functions . . .'

The SSPX can not even identify a crummy Pope as a reason to justify their schism.

If a pope is foreknown as damned and is evil, and is therefore a limb of the devil, he does not have authority over the faithful given to him by anyone, except perhaps by the emperor was a proposition of Wyclif which was condemned at the Council of Constance

The Epistle of Ignatius to the Smyrnaeans

... CHAPTER VIII.--LET NOTHING BE DONE WITHOUT THE BISHOP.

See that ye all follow the bishop, even as Jesus Christ does the Father, and the presbytery as ye would the apostles; and reverence the deacons, as being the institution of God. Let no man do anything connected with the Church without the bishop. Let that be deemed a proper Eucharist, which is [administered] either by the bishop, or by one to whom he has entrusted it. Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church. It is not lawful without the bishop either to baptize or to celebrate a love-feast; but whatsoever he shall approve of, that is also pleasing to God, so that everything that is done may be secure and valid.

CHAPTER IX.--HONOUR THE BISHOP.
Moreover, it is in accordance with reason that we should return to soberness [of conduct], and, while yet we have opportunity, exercise repentance towards God. It is well to reverence both God and the bishop. He who honours the bishop has been honoured by God; he who does anything without the knowledge of the bishop, does [in reality] serve the devil.
