Ecumenism is the Universal Solvent of Tradition .

And the winner is....The Melkites

Which Mass/Divine Liturgy gets it right when it comes to what Jesus Christ did in His Salvific Self-Sacrifice?

The Lil' Licit Liturgy

Euc. Prayer 1 (Roman Canon)

Grant us your peace in this life,
the peace that will turn us from final damnation,
and count us among those you have chosen.
 [Through Christ our Lord. Amen.]

Bless and approve our offerings made
for the good of your church, so that they
may be united in spirit and in truth
with this bread and wine
that will become the body and blood
of Jesus Christ, your only Son, Our Lord.
[Through Christ our Lord. Amen.]

The day before Jesus suffered
he took bread in his sacred hands
and looking up to heaven,
to you, his almighty Father,
he gave you thanks and praise.

Euc prayer II

Lord, you are holy indeed, the fountain of all holiness.
Let your Spirit come upon these gifts to make them holy,
so that they may become for us the body + and blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Before he was given up to death, a death he freely accepted,
he took bread and gave you thanks. He broke the bread,
gave it to his disciples, and said:

EUC Prayer III

And so, Father,
we bring you these gifts.
We ask you to make them holy by
the power of your Spirit,
that they may become the body + and blood
of your Son our Lord Jesus Christ.

On the night he was betrayed,
he took bread and gave you thanks and praise.
He broke the bread,
gave it to his disciples, and said:

The Real Mass

Prayers After The Consecration
Hanc Igitur (Oblation of the Victim)

The priest spreads his hands over the oblation, says the first two words aloud, and continues silently:
page10image3336 page10image3504 page10image3672

We therefore beseech Thee, O Lord, to graciously accept this oblation of our service, as also of Thy entire family; and to dispose our days in Thy peace, preserve us from eternal damnation, and count us in the number in Thine Elect. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

And do Thou, O God, vouchsafe in all respects to bless consecrate page10image14408and approve page10image14680this our oblation, to perfect it and to render it well-pleasing to Thyself, so that it may become for us the Body page10image15968and Blood page10image16240of Thy most beloved Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom

     Melkite Catholic Church

Priest: With these blessed powers, O Master who love mankind, we too cry out and say: Holy are You and all holy, You and Your Only Begotten Son and Your Holy Spirit. Holy are You and all holy and magnificent is Your glory: who so loved Your world as to give Your Only Begotten Son, that every one who believes in Him shall not perish but may have eternal life. When He had come and fulfilled all that was appointed Him to do for our sake, on the night on which He was delivered up, or rather delivered Himself up for the life of the world, taking bread in His holy, spotless and blameless hands, giving thanks and blessing, sanctifying and breaking it, gave it to His holy Disciples and Apostles and said...

Brunero Gherardini, The Ecumenical Vatican Council 11, A MUCH NEEDED DISCUSSION:

The first time ABS assisted at The Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom at St. Nicholas Melkite Greek Catholic Church in Delray Beach

http://www.stnicholasmelkite.org

he nearly yelled, YES!!, out loud when he heard the Priest pray

When He had come and fulfilled all that was appointed Him to do for our sake, on the night on which He was delivered up, or rather delivered Himself up

because that was the first time ABS had
heard the factual truth of the matter so
explicitly publicly confessed.

Jesus is/was always in control of His
Sacrificial and Salvific actions and
especially was this so during His Passion.

For ABS' money, this is a clear win for
the Melkites when it comes to the translation
of the Greek into English (even considering
the intervening Latin).
