VAXPORTS
Some sectors, meanwhile, like the travel industry, have clamored for a uniform system to be developed as they seek a return to normalcy. Governments around the world may seek proof of vaccinations before foreigners can enter their borders again.
Well, that certainly crams a troublesome spear into the spokes of our travel plans.
ABS and The Bride had been making plans to take advantage of the relatively inexpensive WBC Tour.
Owing to events of the past year or so, the WBC (Wuhan Bat Cave) Tour has fallen into disfavor with many world travelers.
Previous to this latest plan of paranoia from the political class, ABS was looking at a cost of roughly $1000 Renminbi for seats inside Air China.
For obvious reasons, ABS wanted to book a flight with this airline
One of the events that most intrigued ABS about The WBC Tour was the grand festival celebrated at the end of The WBC if nobody died while on the Tour.
An elaborate meal was prepared and eaten with any local dignitaries that had not yet been arrested for some reason or another.
Cooked in The Guanpot (A Pot made from Bat Guano) chefs had prepared twenty four sick bats, cooked in Soy Sauce and fiery chilies that, supposedly, could be eaten without fear of death.
Served by stout persons (some of whom were rumored to be women) who ladled the questionable fare into bowls made of razor wire and bamboo, the bats were eulogized in the famous native song:
Sing a song of Nancy Kwan
So pleasing to the eye,
Four and twenty diseased bats
Baked in a pie.
When the pie was opened
The bats began to sting—
Wasn't that a deadly dish
To set before a Ming?
King Ming was in the out-house
Pinching off a loaf,
His queen was in the pantry
Stir-frying on what she called a stoaf
The Princess was in her bedroom
For her seventh daily doze,
Along came a diseased bat
And bit off her nose.
Sing a song of Nancy Kwan
So pleasing to the eye
Four and twenty diseased bats
Baked in a pie.
When the pie was opened
The bats began to sting
Wasn't that a deadly dish
To set before a Ming?
